The July 22 Center was established on the initiative of AUF and the Support Group in 2015 as an exhibition in the high-rise building, awaiting a national memorial site. Since then, the center has evolved from an information center to a full-fledged memorial and learning center. The July 22 Center contributes to educating both students and teachers about July 22. The Support Group collaborates closely with the July 22 Center, particularly with their timewitness program. Read more about the July 22 Center
here.The Wergeland Center promotes education as a vital pathway to more democracy and human rights in Norway and Europe. The Wergeland Center conducts workshops on Utøya for both students and teachers. Through our collaboration, we hope to contribute to more oppertunities for students and teachers to receive education about July 22 on Utøya, and to strengthen each other through sharing experiences and exchanging ideas. Earlier in 2024, the Support Group participated in the conference "Education and Museums' response to threats to democracy," organized by the Wergeland Center. Read more about the Wergeland Center
here. The Rafto Foundation is a non-profit organization that works to promote human rights and democracy. We collaborate closely with the Rafto Foundation on their program "Stories about July 22, 2011," where we assist in telling the stories of July 22 so that students can gain a deeper understanding of the consequences of terror. here. Utøya AS ensures that Utøya has become and will remain a place for remembrance, learning, and engagement. Through their work, new genereations of youth get the oppertunity to learn about democrazy and Human right at Utøya, while those we lost on July 22 are remembered with dignity.
